TOWN Pop-Up Polo 2026: Stay in Caloundra, Glam in Kawana

Travel Planning7 min read

The short version: TOWN Pop-Up Polo returns to Kawana Sports Precinct on Saturday 14 November 2026, from 11:30am until late. It is one of the Sunshine Coast's genuine luxury-lifestyle days - polo, fashion, hospitality, music, an after party. The smart stay is not in the car park. It is a park-once Caloundra base fifteen minutes south, with a west-facing rooftop for sunset and a Level 12 rooftop (heated pool, 34°C spa, sauna) for the morning after.

If you are coming from Brisbane, this is the closest real Sunshine Coast town. If you are comparing it with Noosa, you already know the difference: walkable here, packed there. Polo Saturday is the magnet. The rest of an 8–20 November window is the holiday you actually remember.

What is TOWN Pop-Up Polo Sunshine Coast 2026?

Pop-Up Polo is a touring luxury lifestyle series - sport, fashion, food, and hospitality in one day - part of the Urban Polo circuit. The Sunshine Coast edition is TOWN Pop-Up Polo, produced by Events Queensland.

On Saturday 14 November 2026 it takes over Kawana Sports Precinct in Bokarina. Organiser copy frames it as polo you stand close enough to feel, plus Fashions on the Field, the Women's Dash, the Car vs Pony race, divot stomping, DJs, live music, and an after party. VIP hospitality is offered in a marquee / Billy J Polo Club; food and drinks are also available in the Billy J Polo Lounge. It is strictly 18+.

Ticket types and prices change. Check the official listing before you buy - Eventbrite and popuppolo.com. We are not quoting a number here because live prices were not confirmed at draft.

When: Saturday 14 November 2026, 11:30am–late Where: Kawana Sports Precinct, 320 Nicklin Way, Bokarina QLD 4575 Who it's for: dressed-up adults who want a social sport day, not a quiet beach picnic

Why stay in Caloundra for a Kawana polo day?

Because the event is one day. The stay should feel like a week.

Kawana Sports Precinct sits on Nicklin Way at Bokarina. From Bulcock Street, Caloundra, you are looking at a short run north - typically about 15–20 minutes in normal traffic. Close enough that you can leave the apartment late morning, still be in the precinct for gates, and be back in Caloundra when the after party lets you go.

What you cannot do if you sleep on top of the venue: walk to two kinds of water, park the car on Friday and leave it there, or take a 34°C rooftop spa at midnight without a festival fence around you.

Caloundra is the closest real Sunshine Coast town to Brisbane - just over an hour on a clean run, which is why this window works so well for southeast Queensland guests who want the polo without making the whole trip a hotel-and-Uber exercise. The Brisbane to Caloundra road trip is the southern approach if you are driving up.

And if you are still weighing Noosa: Polo is at Kawana, not Hastings Street. Basing north of the event adds drive time and peak-season density. The honest comparison is in Caloundra vs Noosa. For this weekend, south of Kawana is the cleaner play.

The 8–20 November window (how to actually use it)

Treat Saturday 14 November as the centrepiece, not the entire trip.

A long weekend is enough: arrive Friday, polo Saturday, recover Sunday. A longer 8–20 November stay is the version that feels like a coastal chapter - hinterland, two beaches, Sunday markets, late-season whales from the right headland, and the rooftop as a daily ritual rather than a one-night novelty.

Friday - arrive, park once, let the town do the work

Drive in. Underground park. Do not move the car again until the polo.

Bulcock Street is on the doorstep: coffee, a slow lunch, a swim. Bulcock Beach is two minutes' walk and faces west over Pumicestone Passage - Bribie Island, the Glass Houses on a clear afternoon, pelicans, calm water. That is the rooftop view too. It is not the open-ocean whale run; do not come expecting blows off the railing.

Kings Beach is the patrolled ocean swim a short walk the other way. Two waters, one stay. That is the Caloundra hand. Our beaches compared guide is the local version if you want to pick a beach to the hour.

Late afternoon: Happy Valley for sunset, then walk to dinner. No booking a taxi to "find atmosphere." It is already under the building.

Then Level 12. The rooftop is the unique sell in this building - 360° views, pool held at 26°C, spa at 34°C, sauna year-round. Use it the night before polo. You will want it more the night after.

Saturday - polo day

Dress for grass and sun, not a Melbourne Cup lawn. Organiser guidance is sophisticated tailored day wear; linen and sundresses work; high heels are a poor idea on a grassed precinct; millinery is not required.

Drive or rideshare the short hop to Kawana. Official site says onsite parking is available for Pop-Up Polo events - still leave a buffer, because 11:30am starts fill precincts. If you plan to stay for the after party, a designated driver or a booked car home is the adult version of luxury.

The day itself is the event: polo close enough to feel, Fashions on the Field, the dashes, Car vs Pony, hospitality if that is your ticket, and an after party the organisers say is open to all guests once the match wraps. We will not invent set times or inclusions beyond what they publish. Check your ticket type on the official page the week you go.

When you are done, you are fifteen minutes from a proper apartment - not a precinct paddock.

Sunday - markets, salt, spa

Sunday on Bulcock Street is market morning: live music, local produce, the town at walking pace. That is the correct hangover plan. Kings Beach if you want ocean. Passage if you want calm. Rooftop spa at 34°C either way.

If you are stretching the stay through the 8–20 November window, this is also late humpback season (June–November on this coast). Watch from the east-facing ocean side, Moffat Headland, or the rooftop's ocean aspect - not from the apartment. November is the tail of the run, not the peak. Still worth a clear morning if the whales are still moving.

November's character - warming water, spring energy, not yet Christmas density - sits in our best time to visit guide if you are choosing between a long weekend and a fuller fortnight.

What should I wear to Pop-Up Polo?

Organiser FAQ, not our invention: sophisticated, tailored day wear. Linen jackets, ties, sundresses. The site is grassed, so skip the spike heel. Hats in the Melbourne Cup sense are not required and not really the brief. Think coastal-smart, sun-smart, able to stand for polo and still look like you meant it.

It is 18+. Dress like you were invited, because you were.

How far is Caloundra from Kawana Sports Precinct?

From 111 Bulcock Street you are looking at a short northbound run along the coastal corridor to 320 Nicklin Way, Bokarina - typically around 15–20 minutes depending on Saturday event traffic. Close enough to base here. Far enough that you are not sleeping inside the event's noise and fencing.

Brisbane guests: Caloundra is the first real Sunshine Coast town on the drive. Polo at Kawana is then a local hop, not a second road trip.

Where we sit in this (owner note)

I host Caloundra Escape - apartment 205/111 Bulcock Street, Caloundra QLD 4551. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, sleeps four. The Level 12 rooftop looks west over Pumicestone Passage toward Bribie and the Glass Houses. Upstairs on Level 12: 360° rooftop, pool at 26°C, spa at 34°C, sauna all year. Secure underground parking, so the "park once" line is literal.

Polo Saturday is a brilliant reason to come. The reason you will talk about the trip in December is the Passage light, the walkable dinners, and that rooftop on Sunday morning.

Direct bookings are invite-only for guests we already know and trust. Airbnb remains the public listing. If you have stayed with us before, or you have been referred, request dates on the site and we will confirm within 24 hours. We are selective on purpose. That is how the apartment stays the way you found it.
